Hi! I'm this months "Mystery Reviewer" and these are three books that I love and would definitely reread and recommend to any of my friends. I am an eighth grader, who loves to read, and is constantly in the library. On a daily basis. I absolutely love to read and enjoy writing quite a lot. I have thousands of puns stuck in my head constantly and I went to Highland for elementary school. Can you guess who I am? If you guess right and tell your answer to Mr. Berger, you might get a prize...just sayin. Here is a list of some of my favorite books.
A cruel and twisted take on Beauty and the Beast, Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge shows us that we can't believe everything we hear. Beautiful and lonely Nyx has been betrothed to the powerful and immortal Ignifex since birth. Her plan? Kill him. It was in her destiny. Ignifex has been married more times than anyone can count, and Nyx was going to be his last. Training since she could walk, Nyx is ready to destroy him. But Ignifex isn't what Nyx expects. A charming and beguiled monster, he enthralls her. As Nyx formalates her plan, she becomes drawn to him. Learning each deep and captivating secret, making to so she wants to learn more and more about him. And as time runs out, she realizes that this 'monster' may not be what everyone thought he was. This book is one of my favorites, it has very deep and desolate characters and makes you feel more and more enticed as you read.
Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell, is a wonderful classic. Showing us what it means to survive. Survive meaning; facing the world where all love, understanding, and compassion is gone. The novel takes place in the south, during the CIvil War. It talks about Scarlett, a spoiled teenager who has had everything handed to her. The novel traces her means of survival through the tragic account of the South. As well as her affairs with Rhett Butler and Ashley Wilkes. Gone with the wind, is an amazing book. That shows us that not all women need a man. Focusing mainly on feminism in a time that women were not valued as equal people. This novel defies the norms of its time period with its ground breaking ideas.
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is a spectacular book. If there is one thing that this novel showcases, its the fact that the past is unattainable. Though you may have the same setting and situation, you can never repeat the past, perfectly. In the summer of 1912, Nick Carraway, a bond trader rents a small cottage on the East coast. Next to a large mansion, owned by the mystic Gatsby. As they become closer, secrets get revealed, and favors get made, Gatsby rekindles his old love hits Nick cousin, Daisy. But as Gatsby tries to recreate the past, he realises that sometimes the past should stay in the past. This novel is another classic. It is an amazing book that can show us the impact that one person can have on our life.
